Red Hots is one of the most searched strain names on our site, so this guide goes into detail: the full terpene panel from the Cannabis Chem Lab certificate, what the grower does and does not say about its genetics, how the spice-and-citrus flavor develops, what people commonly report from it and when, and how it compares with Don Vito, Fuel Face and Grape Stomper. If the product page shows it sold out, the comparison section has your nearest match.

Lineage and genetics

The grower publishes no parentage for Red Hots, and we only print lineage that arrives with the flower, so there is no family tree here. The name is a nod to the cinnamon candy, and for once the name is a fair description: the warm, spicy top note is the first thing most people pick up, and it tracks the caryophyllene reading on the certificate rather than any story about its parents.

The grower classifies Red Hots as a sativa, and the panel is consistent with that in one specific way: myrcene, the terpene most associated with heavy, sedating flower, is almost absent at 0.04%. That is the lowest myrcene reading of any sativa on our menu and a big part of why Red Hots feels as lively as it does. Our guide to reading a hemp COA explains how to spot that kind of detail yourself; the batch we carry was potency-tested in late June 2026 with the terpene panel reported in early July.

Red Hots has one of the more distinctive panels on our menu. trans-Caryophyllene leads at 0.71%, with limonene right behind at 0.67%, and that pairing is the whole story of the flavor: caryophyllene is the peppery, warm-spice terpene found in cinnamon and clove, limonene is the citrus, and together they produce the cinnamon-candy-meets-orange-peel aroma the product copy describes. Linalool at 0.25% adds the smooth floral finish, α-Humulene (0.15%) gives a dry, hoppy edge, and α-Bisabolol (0.11%) contributes a faint chamomile sweetness. The pinenes, ocimene and a trace of myrcene round out the list. The product record’s panel also notes menthol and endo-fenchyl alcohol readings, which explains the slight cooling sensation some customers mention on the exhale.

On the palate it opens spicy and bright, almost like a cinnamon hard candy, moves into citrus through the middle, and finishes floral and clean. The near-absence of myrcene means there is very little earthiness or musk, so it tastes lighter than its 30% potency suggests. Red Hots is a flower that benefits from a lower vaporizer temperature or a slow-burning joint; a hot bowl flattens the spice into plain pepper.

What to expect from Red Hots and when to use it

At 30.65% THCA, Red Hots is a strong flower, and THCA converts to THC when heated, so do not let the lively character fool you about potency. What customers most commonly report is a fast, bright, chatty start, the kind of lift that makes it a favorite for social afternoons, concerts, hikes and getting through a long to-do list. The body feel stays light, and there is little of the settling-in that Don Vito’s myrcene provides, which is why we tag it creative, social and focus rather than unwind.

The best time of day is morning through late afternoon. It is the sativa we would least recommend for the evening, because most people say the headspace stays switched on for a while. If you are sensitive to racy flower, start with a very small amount, a couple of pulls, and give it fifteen minutes; experiences vary with the person and their tolerance. Dry mouth is the most commonly reported side note; keep water nearby and do not drive. For the broader picture, our guide to THCA flower for energy and focus explains why low-myrcene, limonene-forward strains like this one earn that reputation.

How Red Hots compares with other Ember Trees strains

Red Hots is the liveliest sativa on the menu. Here is how it stacks up against the three strains customers most often compare it with.

Red Hots vs. Don Vito

Don Vito is our highest-potency sativa at 35.24% THCA, limonene-led with a large myrcene share, so it is citrus and herb with a grounded floor where Red Hots is spice and citrus with almost no floor at all. Don Vito is stronger and more relaxed; Red Hots is lighter, brighter and more social. See the Don Vito strain guide.

Red Hots vs. Fuel Face

Fuel Face is a sativa at 31.09% THCA whose limonene is paired with a high linalool reading, so it is citrus and soft florals with an easygoing feel. Fuel Face is the mellow, pretty one; Red Hots is the loud, spicy one. The Fuel Face strain guide covers it in full.

Red Hots vs. Grape Stomper

Grape Stomper is a sativa at 29.54% THCA that is also caryophyllene-led, but its citrus is wrapped in sweet grape and a subtle fuel finish, and customers describe it as uplifting with a warmer body. If you like the spice of Red Hots but want something sweeter and a touch softer, Grape Stomper is the closest match; read the Grape Stomper strain guide.

The current lineup is always on the THCA flower menu, and this guide stays up so you can compare Red Hots with what is in stock. Each batch gets its own certificate, so the numbers above describe the batch tested on the date shown.

Red Hots FAQ

Is Red Hots an indica or a sativa?

Red Hots is a sativa. The grower classifies it that way, and the certificate backs it up: myrcene, the terpene most linked to heavy flower, is almost absent, while caryophyllene and limonene lead.

How strong is Red Hots THCA flower?

The current batch tested at 30.65% THCA with 0.153% delta-9 THC at Cannabis Chem Lab in June 2026. THCA converts to THC when heated, so it is a strong flower despite its light, lively character.

What does Red Hots taste like?

Warm cinnamon spice and bright citrus on the inhale, with a smooth floral finish and a faint cooling note on the exhale. There is very little earthiness, so it tastes lighter than its potency suggests.

What terpenes are in Red Hots?

The certificate for batch ET-FLW-RED-20260831-01 lists trans-caryophyllene (0.71%), limonene (0.67%), linalool (0.25%), α-humulene (0.15%), α-bisabolol (0.11%), α-pinene (0.09%), β-pinene (0.08%), ocimene (0.05%) and β-myrcene (0.04%).

When is the best time of day for Red Hots?

Morning through late afternoon. Customers commonly describe a fast, social, energizing lift, which makes it a daytime flower and the sativa we least recommend before bed.

Can Red Hots be shipped to my state?

Red Hots is hemp-derived THCA flower with delta-9 THC under 0.3% by dry weight. Ember Trees ships it by UPS to 45 states, excluding Arkansas, Idaho, Minnesota, Oregon and Rhode Island, to customers 21 and over.

Ember Trees sells hemp-derived THCA flower under the 2018 Farm Bill, with delta-9 THC at or below 0.3% on a dry-weight basis as confirmed by third-party testing of each batch; THCA converts to THC when heated. The effects described in this guide are commonly reported by adult consumers, vary from person to person and are not medical claims. These statements have not been evaluated by the FDA, and this product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. For adults 21 and over. Keep out of reach of children, and do not drive after use.
