This guide covers what the certificate of analysis says, where the Animal Face × Sin Mintz genetics come from, how the flavor develops, what people commonly report from a hybrid at this potency, and how Toad Venom stacks up against the other hybrids we carry. If Toad Venom is between drops when you read this, the comparison section points you at the closest alternative in stock.

Lineage and genetics
Toad Venom is listed by the grower as Animal Face × Sin Mintz, and that is the only lineage claim we publish for it, because it is the one that came with the flower. Both parent names tell you something about what to expect. The Animal Face side is where the fuel comes from: it is an OG-leaning line, and OG descendants tend to carry the sharp, gassy, slightly sour top note that hits you when the jar opens. Sin Mintz contributes the cooler, sweeter side of the profile, the mint-and-dessert character that keeps the finish from being pure fuel.
We do not have test data for the parents, only for this batch, so take the genetics as context rather than a prediction: two growers can run the same cross and land on different phenotypes. The batch we tested landed where the name suggests, fuel first, citrus in the middle, mint on the way out. Toad Venom is graded AA+ by the grower, which means dense, well-trimmed, resin-heavy buds; the grade describes bud structure and trim, not a different product.
Terpene and flavor profile
No terpene panel is printed on this batch’s certificate of analysis, so the flavor notes below come from the product description rather than a measured reading. The product description lists caryophyllene, limonene, myrcene, linalool as the terpenes typically associated with Toad Venom, which is consistent with the flavor notes below, but treat that as a description rather than a measurement.
The flavor arrives in three stages. Breaking a bud open releases the gas first: a sharp, almost solvent-like fuel note with a sour edge that most people associate with OG genetics. Underneath it there is citrus, closer to lemon peel than sweet orange, which brightens the fuel instead of competing with it. The mint shows up last, as a cool, clean finish on the exhale that lingers for a few seconds after the smoke is gone.
Those three notes map neatly onto the terpenes the product copy lists as typical for Toad Venom. Caryophyllene is the peppery, diesel-adjacent one and tends to dominate gassy OG cuts. Limonene is the citrus. Myrcene is earthy and slightly musky and fills in the base of the profile, and linalool is the floral, faintly cool note that often reads as “fresh” in a mint-leaning strain. Because this batch’s certificate did not include a terpene panel, we are describing what you smell and taste rather than quoting percentages; our terpene guide explains why those compounds matter more than the THCA number when it comes to how a strain feels.
Toad Venom burns smoothly for a flower this resinous, and grinding releases noticeably more of the mint than breaking buds by hand.
What to expect from Toad Venom and when to use it
At 34.26% THCA, Toad Venom is not a beginner flower, and the hybrid label should not be read as “mild.” THCA converts to THC when heated, so the potency you feel is in the same range as the strongest flower we sell. People who like it tend to describe a quick, clear-headed lift in the first few minutes, more talkative and upbeat than racy, that settles into a relaxed body over the following half hour without turning sleepy. That balance is why we tag it creative, social and unwind rather than sleep.
The best time of day, based on what customers tell us, is the late afternoon or early evening. It is less suited to mornings than our limonene-led sativas, and less suited to bedtime than our heavier indicas, because the headspace stays engaged. Start with less than you would use of a 20-something percent flower; a small bowl or half a joint is enough to judge how it lands, and experiences vary with the person and their tolerance. Dry mouth and red eyes are the most commonly reported side notes; keep water nearby and do not drive.
How Toad Venom compares with other Ember Trees strains
Here is how Toad Venom lines up against the three strains customers most often cross-shop with it.
Toad Venom vs. SkyWalker
SkyWalker is our indica-leaning hybrid at 30.19% THCA, with an earthy pine, herbal spice and diesel profile. Both carry the diesel edge, but SkyWalker is heavier in the body and drifts toward the couch where Toad Venom stays conversational. Pick SkyWalker for a quiet night in and Toad Venom when you still have plans. The SkyWalker strain guide has the full breakdown.
Toad Venom vs. SFV
SFV is a sativa-leaning hybrid at 30.50% THCA with a fresh pine and lemon profile over earthy wood, and a measured panel led by myrcene, nerolidol and linalool. It is brighter and more focused than Toad Venom and has none of the mint. If you want the OG family character with a more daytime-friendly, task-oriented feel, SFV is the closer fit; see the SFV strain guide.
Toad Venom vs. Terp Heads
Terp Heads is the strain to look at if the mint is what draws you to Toad Venom. It is a balanced hybrid at 29.64% THCA with bright citrus, sweet earth and a cool minty edge, and its certificate does include a terpene panel, led by limonene at 0.61%. Terp Heads is sweeter and lighter on the gas, and a touch less potent on paper. The Terp Heads strain guide covers it in detail. Still deciding on a direction? The current lineup is always on the THCA flower menu, and this guide stays up so you can compare Toad Venom with what is in stock. Each batch gets its own certificate, so the numbers above describe the batch tested on the date shown.
Toad Venom FAQ
Is Toad Venom an indica or a sativa?
Toad Venom is a hybrid. The grower lists it as Animal Face × Sin Mintz, and the batch we carry behaves like a balanced hybrid: an upbeat, social start that settles into a relaxed body without becoming sleepy.
How strong is Toad Venom THCA flower?
The current batch tested at 34.26% THCA (calculated total THC 30.05%) at SC Labs. Delta-9 THC was below the lab’s limit of quantitation, so it is hemp under the 2018 Farm Bill.
What does Toad Venom taste like?
Gas first, then lemon-peel citrus, then a cool mint finish on the exhale. The product copy lists caryophyllene, limonene, myrcene and linalool as its typical terpenes, which matches that fuel-citrus-mint progression.
Does the Toad Venom COA include a terpene panel?
No. The SC Labs certificate for batch ET-FLW-TOA-20261013-01 covers cannabinoids and moisture only, so the flavor notes in this guide are descriptive rather than measured. You can read the certificate at /coas/ET-FLW-TOA-20261013-01.
When is the best time to use Toad Venom?
Most customers reach for it in the late afternoon or early evening. It is more engaged than our heavy indicas and more relaxed than our limonene-led sativas, which makes it a social or creative-evening flower rather than a morning or bedtime one.
Is Toad Venom legal to ship to my state?
Toad Venom is hemp-derived THCA flower with delta-9 THC under 0.3% by dry weight, and Ember Trees ships it to 45 states by UPS. We cannot ship to Arkansas, Idaho, Minnesota, Oregon or Rhode Island, and you must be 21 or older with a valid ID to order.
Ember Trees sells hemp-derived THCA flower under the 2018 Farm Bill, with delta-9 THC at or below 0.3% on a dry-weight basis as confirmed by third-party testing of each batch; THCA converts to THC when heated. The effects described in this guide are commonly reported by adult consumers, vary from person to person and are not medical claims. These statements have not been evaluated by the FDA, and this product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. For adults 21 and over. Keep out of reach of children, and do not drive after use.
